Biography
Nabil Ghandour is a Lebanese painter whose work is shaped by two recurring subjects: expansive skies and the sea.
Trained first in economics, Ghandour later returned to painting full time. He works from photographs and sketches gathered during his travels—from Ramlet al-Baida and Mount Sannine in Lebanon to Cornwall and Wales—rebuilding those landscapes in oil through color, atmosphere and changing light.
Impressionist painting, first encountered during childhood visits to museums in Paris, remains an important influence on his work. His Beirut studio was extensively damaged in the August 2020 port explosion; he later rebuilt the space and continues to paint there.
